Raymond Paul WHELCHEL, 62, died Wednesday morning at Sarasota Memorial Hospital, Sarasota, FL; after an illness of several months. Mr. Whelchel a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Frank Whelchel, was raised in Byron. He was married to Kitty CANINE and they lived on a farm at Freedom until moving to Florida about 7 years ago. He was an electrical contractor in Sarasota. Surviving are the widow, Kit; a daughter, Mrs. Pauline French; two grandchildren, Chery land Stanley French; a brother, Ralph Whelchel, a sister, Mrs. Esther Staggs, of Sarasota and two nieces. Funeral services were held at the South Side Baptist Church, 2 p.m. Saturday afternoon with burial at Sarasota Memorial Park Cemetery. -- kbz
